10.10.10

We celebrated Thanksgiving day today because we have to travel back home tomorrow. My sister in law also has to work tomorrow, so today worked well for us all to cook and eat a big meal.
The kids played, and played and played some more. I can't say enough about being close to family and how wonderful it is.
Shel shared her green bean and bacon dish which I think Des will adopt for their family and we also shared our thanksgiving tradition with rice kernels which we have now shared with Just and his family and Jar and his family. It is something I took from mom and dad and we have done it every year. It is fun to share traditions.
Each person takes rice kernels at the beginning of the meal and sets them next to their plate. Then as dinner goes along, for each rice kernel you have you share with everyone something you are thankful for and put one kernel of rice into a bowl in the middle of the table. The whole conversation around the Thanksgiving table is all about things you are thankful for. It makes the whole thanksgiving meal center around gratitude and I love it.
Another perfect day for which I am grateful!
